Bosch expands two brake pad lines

German manufacturer Robert Bosch GmbH, the world's largest supplier of automotive components, has introduced new additions to two of its lines of brake pads. The expanded lines are the Blue Brake Pad and QuietCast Brake Pad. The three new part numbers are for late-model American, Asian and European vehicles and include hardware kits for select applications.

Blue Disc brake pads feature original equipment-style, multi-layer shims to improve noise dampening, and all applications include synthetic lubricant. The first new stock keeping unit (SKU) includes a hardware kit and fits applications for sport utility vehicles from model years 2012–2014. Models include the Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and Mercedes-Benz M-Class.

The second new Blue Disc SKU does not include the hardware kit, and fits the 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan. Together the two new pads cover an estimated 250,000 vehicles on the road today.

QuietCast is marketed as Bosch's premium brake pad line. The pads are ceramic and semi-metallic and entirely copper-free. A pre-attached OE-style rubber core shim helps to reduce noise. The new QuietCast part number includes a hardware kit and covers some 330,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles dating back as far as model year 2005, among them the G-Class four-wheel drive full-size luxury SUV, the GL-Class full-size crossover SUV and the M-Class mid-size SUV.
